FürImmerBunt – A mosaic project for diversity and cohesion

At the beginning of the year, Rahab and I sat together, feeling quite depressed by what we were seeing in society. The increasing division, the uncertainty, the drifting apart of people – these things were on our minds. We asked ourselves: What can we do to ensure that democracy does not remain just a word? How can we create spaces where people can talk to each other again?

That’s how the idea for “FürImmerBunt” (forever colorful) came about. It’s a project that brings together people from different walks of life who would otherwise hardly ever meet. Through mosaics and collaborative design, we want to create encounters and send a visible signal for diversity and cohesion.”

In 2025, we will start in Düsseldorf-Rath, Unterrath and Mörsenbroich. The project will kick off with a large mosaic wall at the Rather Family Centre. Together with neighbours, school classes and clubs, we want to create places that bring colour to the neighbourhood – and bring people together.

The city of Düsseldorf is already supporting the project through its cultural office. To ensure that we can implement everything – from the workshops and materials to the artistic support – we are currently raising additional funds, including through crowdfunding.

I’m really looking forward to getting started and planning another big project. It’s just the best moment when you stand in front of a finished piece of work with lots of people and know: we did this together!

Further information about the project can be found on the detailed project page and in the video below.
