MUSED intensive workshop in\u00a0November<\/h3>\n

The Popup Mosaic School returns with a workshop in D\u00fcsseldorf!<\/strong><\/p>\n

The workshop is\u00a0directed both to professionals who want to refine\u00a0their technique\u00a0and to enthusiastic beginners with basic artistic experience.\u00a0You will obtain valuable knowledge based on the tradition of Italian masters and the history of mosaics, complemented by the latest insights, tips & tricks from the schools of contemporary mosaic.<\/p>\n

MOSAIC – THE GRAMMAR II: Focus on color & form<\/h4>\n

28.10. \u2013 1.11.2016, 35\u00a0hours, Friday\u00a0\u2013 Monday, 10am \u2013 6pm<\/h5>\n

In this class, we learn more on what makes a mosaic so interesting and unique: the combination of different materials and the mixing of colours.<\/p>\n

In the first theoretical part, you learn how to successfully mix colours and materials and understand different ways of additive and subtractive colour mixing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

How do I set a colour scale for my project?
\n<\/strong>How do I combine warm and cold colours?
\nHow can I influence the colour of one material with another?
\nWhat influence does the choice of a particular material and its properties have on the rest of my work?
\n<\/strong>How can I best use the material I have for my project?<\/strong><\/p>\n

We will find answers to those questions in the practical part of this workshop,\u00a0creating\u00a0a mosaic in the format 40 x 30 cm, in which you interpret a subject of your choice through the use of different colors and materials. This could be a flower, the structure of a leaf or another detail. I\u00a0will provide different designs.\u00a0Who wants to work in 3D and with unusual materials like wood or plastic is invited to do so.<\/p>\n

In this workshop, we\u00a0work with hammer and hardie, the traditional mosaic tool, in direct technique and contemporary style. Choose from different materials like\u00a0marble,\u00a0smalts, ceramics\u00a0and others from my fundus or just bring your own!<\/p>\n

A specialty in this workshop\u00a0is the way we fill the background of the central motif. We will use a leveling compound that will also build the frame of the work.<\/p>\n

Miriam Bastisch (1982):<\/strong>\u00a0Has attended the triennal class at\u00a0Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli<\/em>\u00a0in Spilimbergo, Italy. With her trilingual blog mused-mosaik.de, since 2012, she gives practical information on mosaic techniques, presents interviews with prominent and emerging\u00a0artists\u00a0from the international mosaic scene and gives insights into the work of mosaic artists. First cooperation and teaching activities with\u00a0Babylon Mosaic<\/em>\u00a0in France,\u00a0Z\u00e4ch Mosaike<\/em>\u00a0in Berlin and Ruth Minola Scheibler.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Costs per workshop:<\/strong>\u00a0590 Euros including documentation, material and tools. A mosaic hammer should be brought or can be lended.\u00a010% discount for students \/ registration before July 20th, 2016 (discounts can’t be combined)<\/p>\n
