{"id":1380,"date":"2012-06-17T18:07:55","date_gmt":"2012-06-17T16:07:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mused-mosaik.de\/2012\/06\/17\/mosaicista-hautnah-britta-kuth-2\/"},"modified":"2014-05-13T19:10:26","modified_gmt":"2014-05-13T17:10:26","slug":"mosaicista-upclose-britta-kuth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mused-mosaik.de\/en\/mosaicista-upclose-britta-kuth\/","title":{"rendered":"Britta Kuth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>At first I just wanted to take a class with her.\u00a0Then I had the idea to introduce the artist here.\u00a0When I told Britta Kuth of my blog project, she was just on fire.\u00a0So we met spontaneously for a coffee.\u00a0Here is my first artist portrait.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Britta Kuth discovered her\u00a0passion for mosaic art while studying history of art.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I was fascinated by the mosaic works by artists of the modern classics such as Chagall and Braque and I just started to make mosaics.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The first project was &#8220;Polterherzen&#8221; small mementos of the stag-loving couples.\u00a0Today she manufactures on contract work, participates in charity projects like the\u00a0<a title=\"Butterfly Project\" href=\"http:\/\/butterfly-project.blogspot.de\/p\/about-project.html\" target=\"_blank\">Butterfly Project<\/a>\u00a0and enjoys travelling to get new inspiration.\u00a0Her works are exhibited in numerous group and solo exhibitions, as currently under\u00a0&#8220;Grenzeloos &#8211; Grenzenlos&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The art historian lives with her family in Bergisch Gladbach near Cologne.\u00a0And bridges the gap between theory and practice: In addition to her work as a mosaic artist, she is a freelance writer and lectures on historical and contemporary mosaic art.<\/p>\n<p>Currently Britta especially likes working with mixed media.\u00a0&#8220;Mostly I have noticed only after some work where the journey goes.\u00a0It was the same with this work.\u00a0I realized that they put old and new in relation &#8211; both through the use of various materials, as well as on the level of content.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In &#8220;Tradition&#8221;, designed for the French project &#8220;Rondeurs et F\u00e9es M\u00e8res&#8221; (2011), 17 \u00d7 24 cm, glass, gold, stainless steel and Millefiori in rusted metal<br \/>\u00a9 Britta Kuth<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8220;The project includes works from various artistic media such as mosaic art, photography and poetry.\u00a0They all reflect the cultural-historic perspective, the changes in motherhood. &#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The interdisciplinary project was initiated by a plastic artist, a photographer, a poet and an art historian.\u00a0International mosaic artists were called upon to contribute with their work.\u00a0Selected submissions appeared\u00a0together with the works of the founders in a photo book which is\u00a0<a title=\"Rondeurs et F\u00e9es M\u00e8res\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lulu.com\/shop\/view-cart.ep;jsessionid=DF310D21259EAE56B782325783F5614D\" target=\"_blank\">available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Another work of her series &#8220;Mixed Media&#8221; It was a pleasure, she says, to arrange the iridescent tones on the wood Fund of Death Valley.\u00a0&#8220;It has taken more than two years before I found an object that was worth to use these beautiful old smalti.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Even furniture design and interior trends are reflected in the work of the artist.\u00a0&#8220;The Swan&#8221; (2011), 30 x 21 x 6,5 cm, smalti, Millefiori in a discarded drawer, \u00a9 Britta Kuth<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The motif is embedded in a modern interior that accommodates elements of the British designer Tricia Guild.\u00a0&#8220;The work is the beginning of a series of mosaics on classics and living.&#8221;
