Ilana Shafir is an internationally recognized artist from Israel and co-founder of the Associazione Internazionale Mosaicisti Contemporanei (AIMC). She was born in former Yugoslavia in 1924 and calls her work spontaneous. “I do have a rough idea in my head when I begin a mosaic”, she says. However, she draws inspiration for the exposure of the materials themselves.
